# Osaka Municipal Nagai Botanical Garden

A city botanical garden inside Nagai Park, with eleven collections — roses, hydrangeas, peonies and more. A flowering map handed out at the entrance shows what is in bloom. The History Forest traces the plants of Osaka back 66 million years, and there is a new satoyama woodland and a field of flowers. Benches ring the big pond and the lawn, and three pavilions give shelter from rain. Inside the Flower, Greenery and Nature Information Center, a gardening adviser answers questions.

Closed on Mondays (the next weekday when the Monday is a public holiday) and from 28 December to 4 January. Getting there: the garden sits inside Nagai Park and every route ends in a walk — 800 m east from exit 3 of Osaka Metro Nagai (Midosuji line), 1,000 m from JR Nagai, 800 m west from Kintetsu Harinakano, or 400 m north from the Nagai-higashi city bus stop. Reckon 10 to 15 minutes from the subway station, though the whole way is step-free.
