# Higashi Chaya District

Gold leaf ice cream is sold from the Higashi Chaya crossing onwards, and eating gold is a story a child tells later. The gold itself tastes of nothing, though, said one three-year-old. A shop lets you press gold leaf onto takoyaki, grilled octopus dumplings. In 2015 one parent found old-fashioned toys, free to play with, in front of a temple. One shop serves alcohol-free amazake, a sweet rice drink. Little here was built for children, yet the tasting, the toys and the shops give a small child something to do.
