# Izumo Oyashiro Shrine

The stone rabbits, over 60 of them, each strike a different pose, and the shrine invites visitors to find them. A 2-year-old spotted one and gave it a pat. Beyond the pine avenue, a bronze statue shows Okuninushi with the White Hare of Inaba, a myth the shrine's website retells for children. The Kagura-den hall bears one of Japan's largest sacred straw ropes, which amazed a 4-year-old fresh from posing by the worship hall's smaller rope. So, for children, a shrine visit becomes a search game.
