# To-ji Temple

The five-story pagoda, about 55 meters tall and the tallest in Japan, is visible across the city. Inside the Lecture Hall, 21 statues form a three-dimensional mandala. In July 2026, a family found the pond's lotus, turtles and ducks never boring. Gravel is a toy too: in November 2024, two children played with it, absorbed, while parents gazed at the pagoda. On the 21st of each month, nearly 1,000 stalls fill the grounds, some selling toys. So adults look up while children play closer to the ground.

- Area: Kyoto
- Type: See
- Hours: The grounds' gate opens at 5:00 and closes at 17:00; the paid halls have their own hours (the Kondo and Kodo open at 8:00).
