# Kotohira-gu Shrine

The sacred horses are a stop kids love on the way up, with a toilet nearby. Steps are numbered at some points along the climb, and a 9-year-old enjoyed counting them. At step 500, the Kamitsubaki cafe has kids' chairs for a sit-down rest. At the top, the plaza in front of the main hall looks out across the plain to the Seto Bridge and Mount Sanuki-Fuji. So the climb comes in small pieces, each with something to look at, and a carrier takes the youngest.
