# Houkokuji Temple

In the bamboo garden, narrow paths loop among the bamboo. At their far end, a tea room called Kyūkōan serves matcha with a bamboo-shaped sweet, with a small waterfall right in front. Along these paths, children find plenty to look at: moss and, in early summer, new bamboo shoots. On the grounds before the bamboo garden, summer visitors saw red goldfish swimming in pots. The loop is compact, and a 1½-year-old walked it happily, so it suits slow walking and looking.
