Basics
- Fee：Junior high school age and under get in free. Adults ¥800, high school students and visitors aged 60 and over ¥500. From 20 paying visitors (high school and up) the group rate takes ¥100 off each, so ¥700 and ¥400; age 60 and over is taken on trust. Holders of a disability certificate or benefit card, plus one companion, pay half the individual rate — ¥400 and ¥250. Parking is free.■
- Hours：10:00-18:00, last entry 17:30 (the FAQ page gives 10:00-17:00 on weekdays, so check the day you plan to go). Closed on the first Tuesday of the month — the next weekday if that Tuesday is a holiday — and from 28 December to 2 January; the first Tuesday in August is open. Maintenance, usually on the third Tuesday, and rough weather can close it at short notice.■

Tickets are not sold at convenience stores, but e-tickets can be bought in advance through Jalan net and Asoview. At the desk you can pay by credit card, e-money or QR code. The collection splits into an aviation area, a space area and outdoor exhibits. Upstairs, a full-size mock-up of Kibo — Japan's laboratory on the International Space Station — stands in the space area. Simulators put you at the controls of an airliner, a small jet or a VR helicopter. The roof is a viewing deck, open to anyone who has come in. Downstairs a kids' room is filled with soft blocks to build with, and one of the suggested routes takes families round the photo spots.
