Taking the baby to Sawayaka
A high chair was offered at once, and our own baby food warmed. Plates, a bib, a tip-proof cup, a straw.

Basics
- Fee:Genkotsu Hamburg (250g) is 1,540 yen and Onigiri Hamburg (200g) is 1,380 yen; the handmade 170g one is 990 yen. The lunch sets add a little - 1,760 yen for the Genkotsu version - and run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10:45-15:00, Saturday 10:30-15:00, never on Sundays, holidays or special-opening days. The children's menu has a low-allergen hamburg at 610 yen and a low-allergen curry at 470 yen, and baby food - a whitebait rice porridge - at 170 yen. Which cards and e-money work depends on the site, so ask at the till.■■
- Hours:10:45-22:00, with last orders at 21:00; on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays the doors open at 10:30. Ticketing starts at 9:30, an hour and a quarter before opening, and a ticket taken before opening counts its wait from opening time. Closed every Thursday - though open when that Thursday is a public holiday or a busy day - plus 31 December and 1 January. Opening and ticketing hours can change over New Year, Golden Week and the Obon period.■■

- Booking:No table can be booked, and no time can be chosen. Everyone takes a numbered ticket, either on a smartphone or at the door; both open at the same moment and share one queue. Ticketing here starts at 9:30. The smartphone version only works within 15km of the restaurant and needs the LINE app with location switched on, so a family without LINE has to come to the door for a ticket. If the number is called and nobody is there, the ticket is held - and after 30 more minutes it is cancelled automatically, however far you have travelled. When the queue is long, new tickets can stop before the last-order time.■■Official booking site ↗

Every branch is in Shizuoka Prefecture, and nothing is sold to take away or by mail order. The 250g Genkotsu hamburg steak comes to the table whole and is cut open in front of you. The pieces are then pressed onto a hot iron plate to finish. Because the cut face stays rare, you can ask when ordering to have it flattened and grilled through in the kitchen. Child seats cover seven months to under five, and the kids' hamburg and curry are low-allergen.
| Stroller friendly | Yes | Coming in with a pushchair is fine. When the entrance is busy a staff member will help - say so at the door. The entrance passage is about 80cm wide at its narrowest. | Web-checked | checked Aug ’26 | genkotsu-hb.com |
