Basics
- Fee：410 yen for adults and 200 yen for school pupils from primary through high school; children below primary-school age are free. Groups of 20 or more pay 360 and 150 yen. Three free days are unconditional: under-sixes any day, everyone up to junior high on Children's Day (5 May), and over-65s on Respect for the Aged Day (the third Monday of September). An annual pass is 1,250 yen for adults and 620 yen for school pupils. Cards work, including UnionPay, along with fifteen kinds of e-money, but a bill has to be settled by one method alone, and e-money cannot be topped up in the building.■
- Hours：9:30-17:00 from April to October and 9:30-16:30 from November to March; last entry is half an hour before closing. Closed every Tuesday - except that a Tuesday falling on a public holiday stays open and the next weekday closes instead, and the Tuesdays in Golden Week and in the summer holiday from 20 July to 31 August are open too. Its Japanese name includes the word for touching, yet the butterflies are not to be touched. A torn wing leaves them unable to fly. The first floor holds four diorama walls and terrariums of living insects; the second covers the insects of Ishikawa and of Mount Hakusan. A corner of staff picks changes about every three months. There is a nursing room in the first-floor rest area, and strollers are lent free at the entrance.
