Narita Airport SIM & Wi-Fi Rental Counters

Save

All three terminals have rental counters, and five stand side by side in Terminal 1.

One desk stays open until an hour after the last international arrival, so a late landing still makes it.

More about this place (history, size)

Counters for SIM cards and Wi-Fi rental are spread across all three terminals at Narita: the first and fourth floors in Terminal 1, basement level 1 and the first and second floors in Terminal 2, and two points in Terminal 3. The airport's own notice says that phone and Wi-Fi rental and SIM card sales are only in the area before departure procedures, that is, the public side of the terminal rather than past the gates. The interesting part is that the same list also carries four GPA SIM vending machines on the second floor of Terminal 2, before immigration, so a way to buy on the arrival side does remain.

With kids, here's the plan

On the first floor of Terminal 1's central building, five rental counters stand in a row. All five keep the same hours, 7:00 to 21:00, so you compare them in one spot instead of walking children end to end. On a late arrival, JAL ABC on the first floor of Terminals 1 and 2 stays open an hour past the last international landing. To buy only a SIM before immigration, four vending machines sit on the second floor of Terminal 2. Terminal 3 has just two options, so let the terminal your flight lands at decide where you collect.

Indoor / outdoor: All of these counters and machines are inside the passenger terminal buildings.
Stroller access notes: Every counter sits before departure passport control, so you reach them on the way in and on the way out - but not after you have passed passport control on the day you leave. Terminal 2 also has SIM vending machines on 2F before immigration, so you can buy one before queueing.

Basics

Basics in detail (14)
other
  • The airport gives notice that phone and Wi-Fi rental and SIM card sales are only in the area before departure procedures; the same list, though, also carries four GPA SIM vending machines before immigration on the second floor of Terminal 2, so there is a place to buy on the arrival side.2026-08-18
  • The JAL ABC counter on the first floor of Terminal 1's north wing opens at 6:30 and stays open until an hour after the last international arrival, so it can be used even landing on a late flight.2026-08-18
  • The JAL ABC counter on the first floor of Terminal 1's south wing keeps the same hours, 6:30 until an hour after the last international arrival, so it makes no difference which wing you come out of.2026-08-18
  • On the first floor of Terminal 1's central building, five counters stand side by side, AnyFone JAPAN, XCOM Global, J WiFi & Mobile, SoftBank and Telecom Square, all open 7:00 to 21:00, so they can be compared in one place.2026-08-18
  • The fourth floor of Terminal 1 has counters too, all open 7:00 to 21:00: three in the north wing, XCOM Global, J WiFi & Mobile and JAL ABC, and three in the south wing, J WiFi & Mobile, Telecom Square and JAL ABC, so the line-up differs a little between the two sides.2026-08-18
  • The Rakuten Mobile shop on the fourth floor of Terminal 1's central building is open 8:00 to 20:00, the latest of the Terminal 1 outlets to open and the earliest to close.2026-08-18
  • Two counters, XCOM Global and Telecom Square, are on basement level 1 of Terminal 2, open 7:00 to 21:00, on a different floor from the ones on the first floor.2026-08-18
  • The AnyFone JAPAN counter on the first floor of Terminal 2 is open 7:00 to 21:00, and the phone number 080-4586-4680 is answered during the same hours.2026-08-18
  • JAL ABC on the first floor of Terminal 2 runs from 6:30 until an hour after the last international arrival; where the other outlets are fixed at 7:00 to 21:00, only this one's closing time follows the flights.2026-08-18
  • Four GPA SIM card vending machines stand in the area before immigration on the second floor of Terminal 2, so a SIM can be bought before passport control without going round to a counter.2026-08-18
  • Terminal 3 has only two options, J WiFi & Mobile, open 7:00 to 21:00, and a GPA SIM card vending machine, a narrower choice than in Terminals 1 and 2.2026-08-18
  • Of the J WiFi & Mobile points in Terminal 3, only the Smart Pickup runs 6:00 to 20:30, which makes it the one for a first-thing-in-the-morning collection.2026-08-18
  • WiFiBOX's plans for use in Japan cost, per day, 1,390 yen fully unlimited, 840 yen unlimited with a speed cap, 660 yen for 1GB, 440 yen for 500MB and 300 yen for 200MB.2026-08-18
  • The cheaper unlimited WiFiBOX plan drops to 1Mbps once a day passes 3GB and comes back to speed the next day, so a family sharing one unit takes the fully unlimited plan.2026-08-18

Every counter sits before departure passport control, so on the day you fly home you must go before you pass through. Terminal 1 lines five of them up on the central first floor, close enough to compare. JAL ABC's desks on the first floor of Terminals 1 and 2 close an hour after the last international arrival. In Terminal 2, four SIM vending machines stand on the second floor before immigration, so you can buy one before joining the line. Terminal 3 has just one counter and a machine.
