Narita is the farther of Tokyo's two international airports, out in Chiba, and it is three separate buildings rather than one. Terminal 1 sprawls across a North Wing, a Central Building and a South Wing with satellites.
Terminal 2 opened in December 1992, and Terminal 3, built for low-cost carriers, followed in April 2015.
The two railways, the Keisei lines and the JR Narita Line, stop at Terminal 1 and at one station shared by Terminals 2 and 3.
Terminal 3 has no station of its own, so passengers there walk or take a shuttle to reach a train.

The first walk in Japan is longer than it looks: out through customs, then down a level to the trains.
Every information counter lends strollers free, so borrow one before you start that walk and nobody has to be carried down.
The nursing rooms have changing tables and hot water for formula, and the convenience stores outside security sell diapers and milk if the flight left you short.
On departure day the play areas (Kids' Parks) sit past passport control, so the kids have somewhere to run while you wait to board.
For the ride into Tokyo, the Keisei Skyliner reaches Ueno in about 41 minutes, with reserved seats and room for big bags, which makes it the easiest of the routes with a child asleep on you.

The free shuttle loop takes about 14 minutes between Terminals 1 and 3, 3 minutes between 3 and 2, and 10 minutes between 2 and 1. Walking from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 with a stroller takes 15 to 20 minutes; there is also a connecting walkway of about 13 minutes on foot, though the airport notes that time does not include reaching the check-in counters. Check which terminal is on your ticket before you plan arrival day.

- Terminal 1 has a North Wing, a Central Building and a South Wing with satellites. Terminal 2 opened in December 1992, and Terminal 3, the low-cost carrier terminal, opened in April 2015. Rail access is on the Keisei lines (Skyliner) and the JR Narita Line (Narita Express); both serve a station at Terminal 1 and a second station shared by Terminals 2 and 3.source
- How long the shuttle takes depends on which loop you catch. The all-terminal loop runs about 14 minutes T1 to T3, 3 minutes T3 to T2 and 10 minutes T2 back to T1. The T1-T2 loop takes about 10 minutes, and the T2-T3 loop is about 6 minutes out to T3 and 3 minutes back.source
- A connecting walkway runs between Terminals 2 and 3 as well — about 13 minutes on foot, measured from the ticket gates at Terminal 2 station to the information counter on the second floor of Terminal 3. The airport notes that this does not include the time to reach a check-in counter.source
