- Fee：The gorge itself is free to enter. The rowing boat is priced per boat, ¥5,100 a boat through August 2026, for 30 minutes; going over costs ¥1,000 per 10 minutes. Car parks inside the gorge are ¥1,000 at No.1 Oshioi and No.2 Araragi, ¥800 at No.3 Ohashi and ¥500 at No.4 Oshikata, the last two free for the first 60 minutes and charged 8:00-17:00 only. A raincoat (size L only) is sold at boat reception for ¥200, cash.■
- Hours：The gorge and its walking path have no stated opening or closing time. The rowing boats normally run 8:30-17:00, with last reception at 16:30; if a queue builds up, reception closes earlier. Operating status is posted each morning around 8:00. Boats stop running when the river is swollen, even in fine weather, and after an earthquake of intensity 3 or more in Takachiho.■

- Booking：Walking the gorge needs no booking. The rowing boats do: online only, from 9:00 two weeks before to 9:00 two days before the date, paid by credit card at the time of booking. There are no phone or email bookings and no waiting list. Same-day tickets depend on what is left after online booking closes, they cannot be timed to your choice, and on days that sell out online there are none at all. Pyroclastic flows from Mount Aso cooled into rock here, and erosion left columnar cliffs running 7 km. A path of about 1 km follows the water below. The Manai Falls, one of Japan's hundred famous waterfalls, can be seen from a platform on the path. The boats are rowed by visitors, not by staff. They stop when the river runs high, though the path stays open. Three arch bridges line up in one view, said to be the only such spot in Japan.
