Fukui is quiet coast and hills, and most of Japan's dinosaur bones come out of its ground. The museum at Katsuyama fills a dome with skeletons, and two of the species are named after the prefecture.

The permanent exhibition sits inside a silver dome, and one way from the first floor up to the second is the ramp that curves all the way around the inside of it. You never have to lift the baby out of the stroller: the 51 dinosaur skeletons pass by from below, then again from above at a different angle. The steps in the Science of the Earth zone on the first floor are crossed by a slope as well.The nursing room is on the third floor of the main building; ask at the third-floor reception to use it, and they will bring out hot water for formula if you ask there too. Diaper-changing tables are inside the accessible restrooms on every floor of the main building and the new wing, on both the men's and the women's side. The third floor also has a kids' room where babies and toddlers can rest, and a first-aid room. Strollers are lent free at the third-floor main reception, though only a few are kept. The building has three floors above ground and one below, and the entrance is on the third.
The rebuilt street runs about 200 meters in one line, and the ruins are level ground. A stroller gets along it without much trouble, and a family review says the wide lawn makes it a place to spend the time as if on a picnic. Children below school age enter free.The rebuilt street lends no stroller and has no changing table. The nursing room and the stroller loan are at the Fukui Prefectural Ichijodani Asakura Family Site Museum 2.3 km away, so stop there on the way in. Restrooms are in the parking area beside the ruins and at the museum, and there is none along the walk from Ichijodani Station to the site.
Admission is free. The Megane Museum sits on the first floor across from the Megane Shop, so you see the eyewear from the Edo through the Showa era and the Taisho-era frame-making tools without using stairs. Across the way, the Megane Shop displays over 3,000 current models from about 50 Fukui makers.There is one nursing room. The only way up to the second floor is the stairs - there is no elevator - and both the workshop and the Museum Cafe are up there. Eating and drinking are not allowed except in the lobby and the cafe, and the whole building is non-smoking. The building holds about 30 people, so if another group has the slot they may limit entry: free admission does not guarantee you get in. It closes Wednesdays and over New Year, but opens when a Wednesday is a public holiday and through Obon, August 13-16.
