The whole aquarium is barrier-free and both buildings have wheelchair-accessible elevators, so a stroller rolls through the North and South buildings. Dolphin performances, the orca training session open to the public, penguin feeding time, and the sardine tornado run at spots around the building, and a baby in your arms can watch.A stroller can be rented for 100 yen once a day, for children aged 7 to 24 months; ask at the general information desk inside the North Building entrance (in-building use only, limited number). Baby corners are on the 2nd floor of each building, and the North Building one has facilities for making formula. There is no microwave for warming baby food, so bring something that can be eaten as it is. Folding baby sheets are in every accessible restroom, and there are 11 multipurpose restrooms (5 in the North Building, 6 in the South).
Bird Hall is a walk-in exhibit with no fence between people and birds, so a baby in your arms can follow the peacocks and scarlet ibises walking right in front of them. The koala house is viewed through glass from a dimly lit corridor.The official list names 12 nursing spaces. The main gate information center and Cafe North Garden have hot water; the Asian Elephant Plaza rest house and the restroom beside the axis deer have a baby bed, a nursing sofa and a sink. Any nursing room with a baby bed doubles as a diaper changing spot. Rental strollers are 300 yen for children 7 months to 3 years, from the main gate, Kamiike gate and North Garden gate information centers, lent until 16:00 and returned by 16:50. Diapers are sold at Zoobo Gate and from the vending machine at Zoasis West, among other places. Bird Hall and the Forest of Small Birds and Squirrels may be closed depending on avian flu.
In the Tornado Lab a nine-meter column of spinning air stands in the room, something to look up at from your arms. And the escalator facing the third-floor rest room in the Science and Technology Building has glass side panels, so the machinery working inside is right there to watch.The museum neither rents nor stores strollers, so bring your own. The baby room sits inside the 84-seat rest room on the third floor of the Science and Technology Building and is used for nursing and diaper changes. It is women-only, so a father who wants hot water for formula asks at the general affairs office on the first floor of the same building. Eating and drinking happen only in the rest rooms: 170 seats on the first floor of the Life Science Building, 84 on the third floor and 96 on the seventh of the Science and Technology Building. In the planetarium, children 4 and under watch from a parent's lap, one child per adult.
In the lobby a circular loom is displayed running, a machine that keeps turning for a baby in your arms to follow with their eyes. In the Textile Machinery Pavilion and the Automobile Pavilion, operators run the real machines in front of you.There is one nursing room, with hot water and a baby bed, and a curtain that divides it so two families can use it at once. Two multipurpose restrooms have a baby bed, and restrooms fitted with baby beds and baby chairs include some of the men's rooms. Strollers can be borrowed at the reception desk while they last. Ramps indoors and out, an elevator and handrailed stairs are in place, and the front entrance measures about 170 cm across with both automatic doors open. Wheelchairs and strollers are asked not to use the escalators, so move between floors by elevator. Preschool children enter free.
