The main dish is Genghis Khan — lamb you grill yourself on a hot pan at your table — so kids can watch it cook instead of waiting for a plate.

In the red-brick Kaitakushikan you sit together in the main hall where the beer brewing kettle stands. Every restaurant in the grounds is entirely non-smoking.There are eight baby beds: the baby room in the Kaitakushikan entrance hall, the Garden Grill nursing room and its multipurpose restroom, the men's and women's restrooms on Poplar Kan 1F, the Lilac multipurpose restroom, the Garden Shop multipurpose restroom, and the Sapporo Beer Museum multipurpose restroom. The nursing room is in the Garden Grill. Multipurpose restrooms are on Kaitakushikan 2F and 3F, Poplar Kan 1F, the Garden Grill, Lilac, the Garden Shop and the Sapporo Beer Museum - there is none on Kaitakushikan 1F. Every building has a step at its entrance, but a slope is provided so you can go in with the stroller. Reservations are not compulsory, but the garden recommends them because the wait gets long once the tables fill up.
- Ages 2-3Food can be served cut up small, and scissors are lent out. Children's tableware and high chairs are stocked, so a child eats the Genghis Khan lamb at the same table as the adults. Lilac is the hall families favour, with an all-you-can-eat course that includes over 30 a la carte dishes, so there is more than meat to choose from. At Poplar Kan every menu comes with a soft drink bar.On the all-you-can-eat-and-drink plans, preschool children are free. Kaitakushikan and the Garden Grill have a Kids Plate. The high chairs have no belt, so they suit a child who can already sit unaided. Opening hours differ from restaurant to restaurant, so check the page of the one you are heading for. Same-day reservations are taken only when seats are free, and there is no waiting list. The beef fat used for grilling can be swapped for vegetable oil, and a separate grill can be set up, if you say so when booking.

Poplar Kan serves the old-style Genghis Khan on a dome-shaped pan and every menu comes with a soft drink bar a child can pour from. Lilac has six seasoned versions of the lamb to pick between. There are several photo spots in the grounds that carry the history of Hokkaido's pioneer days, and the outdoor beer garden stays open in the rain under its big tent.On the all-you-can-eat-and-drink plans, preschool children are free. A group orders the same plan, but at Kaitakushikan, Poplar Kan 1F, Lilac and the Garden Grill anyone under 20 can take the soft-drink free-refill option instead. The Garden Grill's course menu costs the same at any age, has no all-you-can-eat version, and must be booked two days ahead (three days over Obon and New Year). Cakes and other sweets may be brought into the outdoor beer garden - tell the staff on the day. Parking is free for five hours with the ticket validated (150 spaces), but the entrance takes no vehicle over 2 m high, 5 m long, 1.9 m wide or 2 t.
