The prefecture's free children's center runs from indoor play areas out to hills and a campsite.

The indoor side is a set of named play places: the dark tunnel, the doodling street, the toy bath, the job train, the sewing house, the play ship Kaze-no-Tani, the studio Ton Ton and more. Children under 4 climb the smaller tower, Mini Noppii, in the Piyo Piyo toddler corner. Outdoors, Mizu-no-Hiroba is shallow water meant for barefoot splashing, not for swimming. The children's theater, Poketto, seats 32 and is free.An official notice dated July 17, 2026 says the usable part of Mizu-no-Hiroba is limited while its paving is repaired, so check before you go. After the water, the shower room costs 150 yen per person per use, so pack a change of clothes. Outdoors you may eat anywhere, except that the campsite is only for people who have booked it. Pets go indoors in a carrier and on a leash elsewhere on the grounds, and no pet may go into the water at Mizu-no-Hiroba.
The Earth room is a diorama of giant insects and plants where you feel shrunk to the size of an ant. Outdoors in Sky Square there is a gate that makes you taller and taller as you pass through it. In the pond of the wild-flower garden there are goldfish and carp.Balls and bats may not be used on the grounds, and bicycles and motorbikes may not be ridden in. The Fairy Path and the Owl Path are woodland paths over rolling ground. Figure about 15 minutes for Kenji's School and about 30 for Kenji's Classroom; walking the paths and the wild-flower garden takes a little longer. Pets are not admitted, and the whole site is non-smoking.
The sheep feeding session runs twice a day, at 10:30 and 13:30, and those are the only times you can feed the sheep. There is also Sheep Mogumogu Time at 11:45 and 15:00, about 20 minutes, and horse feeding from 10:00-12:00 and 13:30-15:30. On a tired day or a wet one you can switch to the indoor Kids Corner and rented play equipment.Ride-on toys the child powers themselves - tricycles, bicycles, kick scooters, kids' bikes - may be neither brought in nor ridden; the rules say nothing about strollers. Feeding, horse riding, the horse-drawn Torobasha and Ouma-san no Mogumogu Time take cash only, so bring coins. The animal area closes for winter, so come within the April 1 to mid-November season if you want to meet the animals.
