Hyogo has Himeji Castle, which in 1993 became one of Japan's first World Heritage sites. On Kobe's shore there is also the only aquarium in western Japan with an orca show (opened 2024). It suits families who want to show their kids a real castle, and kids who love sea animals.

The third floor of Aqua Live is a touch pool, where rays and sharks can be touched by hand. Sea lions, seals and penguins are on the fourth floor of the same building, so the touching leads straight on upstairs. And just inside the entrance gate, Sea World Plaza has an orca monument.No ticket for three and under; from four it is the child rate, 1,700 to 1,800 yen. Prices move through four tiers depending on the date — click the day on the official calendar to see that day's price. Buying a timed ticket online in advance is recommended, and when it is busy same-day tickets may not be sold at all. A timed ticket lets you in from the printed time onward, not before. Tricycles, kick scooters and large items such as carry cases cannot be brought in, so use the coin lockers beside the main entrance, same-day only. There is a children's toilet on the third floor of Aqua Live. The nearest station is Suma Kaihin Koen on the JR Kobe Line, about five minutes' walk.
Convoy is a children-only ride for ages 3 to 8 under 120 cm, so a three-year-old rides it without grown-ups. Imorinsu, a coaster built for little kids, takes children 6 and under with a parent along. The 85-meter Ferris wheel Big 8 also takes children 4 and under with a parent, one turn lasting about 18 minutes over a full circle of the mountain-ringed park.The Soreike! Anpanman ride and the character battery cars cost 200 yen a turn and take cash only, in 100-yen coins, so bring a few. Admission does not cover the rides, so you buy either ride tickets or an attraction free pass separately; bought after entry it is 1,300 yen for preschoolers, sold at the amusement park information center. Bicycles, tricycles and kick scooters may not be brought in.
At Fureai Hiroba, the children's animal corner, kids can touch sheep and goats. The zoo also has an amusement park inside it, with rides at 300 to 400 yen each.Visitors cannot feed the animals anywhere in the zoo, so touching happens at Fureai Hiroba. Rental strollers rated up to age 4 are 500 yen. There is a lawn for eating packed lunches, and on rainy days you can eat in the animal science museum's rest hall or under the roof of the open-style ape house.
Chibidoland, an athletic area built for preschoolers, opened on 20 March 2026. Admission is free for children 0 to 3. On the land courses you are free to skip points, so you can leave the crowded ones for later and work through whatever your child can manage, at their own pace, wherever it is empty. Helmets and supports are lent free of charge, from the huts near the entrances to Mount Kingdom, Dekairiki and Yahhoi.The water course, wonder amembo, is for elementary school age and up at 110 cm or taller. While an older sibling takes it on, you watch from around the pond; the paths there are narrow, so you cannot walk holding a parasol or umbrella. Wheeled ride-on toys such as sleds, strider bikes, tricycles and kickboards may not be brought in, though strollers and luggage carts may. Sandals, Crocs and water shoes with drainage holes in the sole are not allowed on the courses, so put your child in athletic shoes. The athletic areas are left as natural terrain, with some steep ups and downs. Children of elementary school age and under cannot enter on their own.
