Tochigi has grown more strawberries than any other prefecture for 57 straight years. From winter to spring even small children can pick and eat them by hand, and the road to Nikko runs along a 37-kilometer cedar avenue — the longest tree-lined road in the world. It suits fruit-loving kids and families heading for the cool highlands in summer.

Between Kingdom Town and Kingdom Farm you ride the free Wan-Nyan Bus, built in the shape of an animal. The Farm has a rabbit petting field, a goat path and Alpaca Hill, and in summer there is Jabu-Jabu Forest, billed as nature's air conditioner and open since 18 July 2026, where children can get into the water.Admission starts at age 3 (1,300 yen for a child in the regular season, 1,000 yen in winter). The rental stroller only goes up to 24 months and 12 kg, so a bigger child needs your own stroller. The park warns that the tractor bus is loud and asks anyone sensitive to noise to skip it. The Wan-Nyan Bus, the Kingdom Lift and the tractor bus all stop running in the winter season.
The mini locomotive runs a 620-meter loop in about six minutes, and children 3 and under ride with an adult (the child rides free under age 4; the adult pays 200 yen a lap). The Kids Zone's main exhibits are the Piano Stairs and the Mole's House. Outside there are slides and a sandbox for little ones, plus inclusive play equipment anyone can use.The ride ground closes in rain or other bad weather, and from December through February it is closed on weekdays (open on weekdays during the winter school holidays). On days when a heatstroke alert is issued for Tochigi it may close from noon. Inside, the museum asks visitors not to run, and small children try the exhibits together with a parent. As for the rest room where people open their lunch boxes, one Saturday record has every seat taken by just after 11:30.
At the costume house what you can wear is decided by height, not age, so even a small child can go out into the town as a ninja or a princess. Of the Edo job experiences, the ninja training and the detective quest have no age limit, and both are free to join.Getting into a costume takes 20 to 30 minutes and a hair set about 10 more; nothing but the oiran costume can be reserved, so it is first come, first served on the day. The ninja experience takes the first 120 people, and you sign up around the Karakuri Yashiki. The ninja theater does not let anyone in once the show has started, so take children to the toilet beforehand. Bringing food in is discouraged, but if someone has a food allergy or another dietary restriction, their meal may be brought into the dining hall.
