The kids' play area is on 2F, right beside the security checkpoint. They can run off their energy first and then walk straight into the checkpoint.Strollers are lent free at each airline counter — just ask at check-in or when you land. Rental car offices are off-airport, so you go through the general counter in the 1F arrivals lobby, open 9:00 to 19:00, and take each company's shuttle bus. With kids, allow 30 to 60 minutes before the car actually moves, and day one stops being a rush.
The Kuroshio Sea main tank has its own seating set out facing the glass head-on. Tired legs can stop there and still watch the whale sharks and oceanic manta rays go by. Cafe Ocean Blue looks onto the same tank, so a snack break does not mean leaving the view.There are no steps inside, and an elevator links the 1st, 3rd and 4th floors alongside the ramps, so the stroller can stay with you. You may re-enter the same day by showing your ticket at the entrance, which makes stepping outside for air and coming back easy. The aquarium's own average visit is 1.5 to 2 hours, and that does not include the Okichan Theater, Dolphin Lagoon, Sea Turtle Pool or Manatee Pool.
At Ashibinaa of the Grazers, ashibinaa being Okinawan for playground, Indian elephants, reticulated giraffes and hippos can be watched taking their time. Lion Field uses the lie of the land to put two enclosures above and below a rocky hill, so the lions can be seen from several angles. There is also Kwacchii Time, when the animals are fed and you can watch them eat.The zoo says outdoor spaces are free for you to use for lunch, so a packed meal is fine. On a wet day, speak to the staff at the entrance gate and they will point you to covered or indoor spots, depending on how many people are in that day. The restaurant Kaizoku Kobo serves a lunch buffet from 11:00 to 14:30, 600 yen for children aged 3 to 6; you cannot reach it from inside the zoo grounds and enter from the 1st floor of the Children's Center instead. It is closed on Tuesdays.
The Touch Pool on the 2nd floor lets small hands meet sharks, starfish and others. Downstairs, Fureai Hiroba tetote offers Okinawa's first micro pig petting experience, along with call ducks. Feeding the saltwater fish costs 300 yen and has no age limit, so anyone can join. Back on the 2nd floor, Churaminamo makes it feel like you are walking on top of the big tank.Fureai Hiroba tetote runs from 10:00 to 18:00 with last entry at 17:30; open-toed shoes such as sandals are allowed, but watch your feet. Feeding experiences are booked at the event ticket desk on the 2nd floor, first come first served from opening, and sales stop once the places are gone. Feeding the micro pigs costs 500 yen and runs any time between 10:00 and 18:00. A family with a 5- and a 3-year-old felt the visit took 1 to 1.5 hours.
